Sven Sachsalber Research – Phase 1, Europe
In March 2022, BAU (Simone Mair and Lisa Mazza) was officially commissioned by Museion, Bolzano's Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, to conduct a research project on the late artist Sven Sachsalber, focusing on his work and life in South Tyrol and Europe.
The publication is conceived as a decomposed anthology that highlights each content through its format. The central element is the artist's timeline. Each of the keywords identified by the curatorial duo groups the works produced under a theme. The same keywords made on adhesive paper were used during the presentation of the project on a large-scale timeline inside the museum.
This report contains: → Extracts from the outline and colophon of the project; → A chronology of Sven Sachsalber's life including locations, galleries and collaborations with artists; → A chronology of BAU's research; → Keywords and excerpts from conversations and a selection of artworks; → Geographical mapping of artworks found in public and private collections in South Tyrol and Europe; → Sven Sachsalber's complete curriculum vitae; → A list of suggestions for the future of the artist's estate.
